Too often the story of immigration is told by the law, the mainstream media, and government institutions. these narratives often “other” immigrants. U.S. law literally defines immigrants as “aliens,” and locally, openly racist, and anti-immigrant laws like SB1070 and officials like the former Maricopa county sheriff Joe Arpaio perpetuate a deep culture of hostility against immigrants. Through our storytelling program we work to change the narrative surrounding immigrants in Arizona.
